GOLDEN, Colo. - The Regis University women's soccer team (0-0-1) opened their season with a road trip to take on the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (0-0-1), Monday evening. After 110 minutes of back-and-forth action, including two overtimes, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
How it Happened: The Rangers got off two shots in the first half, but neither found the back of the net. Just after halftime in the 50th minute, sophomore defender
Allison Warta launched a shot to the lower left corner of the goal, but it was saved. Just a few moments later in the 54th minute, the Orediggers scored a goal to break the tie.
With time winding down, freshman forward
Isabella Woliver took a shot in the 75th minute, attempting to tie the game again, but again it was saved. Regis turned up the attack in desperation, and it worked! Just before time expired in the 88th minute, sophomore forward
Audrey Teague launched the ball to the lower right corner of the goal after a pass from sophomore forward
Molly Kratzer; this time, the shot went through and the game was tied 1-1. Regular time ended a minute later, and the first overtime began.
