LAKEWOOD, Colo. - The Regis University women's soccer team (1-0-1) traveled just down the road to face-off against the Colorado Christian Cougars (1-2), Thursday afternoon. The Rangers routed CCU with the help of three goals in just 15 minutes of play. The team tacked on one more goal in the second half, giving them a 4-0 victory.
How it Happened: Sophomore
Ella Palmer was fouled in the penalty box just eight minutes into the game. So, senior
Keegan Storlie lined up for the penalty kick and drilled it to open the scoring. Then, just a few moments later in the 13th minute off a corner kick, Storlie found the back of the net yet again with the help of junior
Hanna Wallgren to give Regis a 2-0 lead.
Not even a minute later, freshman
Sophia Leone buried the ball in the upper left corner of the net off a double assist from senior
Natasha Wehner and Palmer. To say the Cougars were overwhelmed by RU's incredible attacking would be an understatement.
In the second half, the Ranger's defense stepped up and didn't allow CCU to score. As the game was coming to a close in the 80th minute, Wallgren added one more goal to the Rangers' total, making the final score 4-0.
Game Notes: Regis smothered the Cougars in shots, 18-8. Junior goalkeeper
Katelyn Martin had light work in goal, she only needed three saves. Sophomore
Molly Kratzer had a game-high five shots, three of which were on-target.
