Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 15 Rangers Continue to Blaze Through RMAC Opponents, Best Mines 66-64

DENVER - The No. 15 Regis University men's basketball team (12-1,7-0 RMAC) continued their march through the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with yet another statement win. This time, over the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (5-7,3-5 RMAC) as the team reached their twelfth-straight win of the season.

How it Happened: Senior guard Brian Dawson led the squad with 22 points and helped spark a burst in the second half after the team trailed by as much as 12. With about six minutes to play in the first frame, the team ignited on a 12-4 run to close the half and cut the deficit to just four points. 

Redshirt junior guard/forward Kevin Ebiriekwe set the tone on their first possession of the final frame with a nice layup to make the score 30-32, Mines. The team didn't slow down and kept the intensity high through the final buzzer. Starting at the under 12-minute timeout, RU went on a 26-17 run to close out the game. The team's balanced play was enough to snag the 66-64 win.

Game Notes: RU improved their shooting from 32 percent (11-34) in the first half to a clean 50 percent (14-28) in the final frame. 

Regis outrebounded the Orediggers by a margin of 36-31 and had five fewer turnovers. The team's were equal on the assist front with eight apiece. 

Dawson's (8-20 FG, 2-6 3-PT) 22 points were a game-high - he also had eight rebounds. Dawson leads the RMAC in free-throw percentage and did work at the charity stripe tonight by going 4-4. 

Graduate student guard Troy Brady (5-10 FG, 1-5 3-PT) and junior guard Aaron Bokol (2-9 FG, 0-3 3-PT) each had 11 points and three boards. 

Junior guard Will Cranston-Lown (3-9 FG, 0-2 3-PT) added eight points while Ebiriekwe (3-5 FG) crashed the glass hard for a game-high nine boards.

Up Next for the Rangers: Regis will take to the road as they look to face the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers (6-8, 4-4 RMAC) this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
