Rangers Slip After Tough Road Test Versus Adams State

DENVER - The Regis University women's basketball team (9-10,5-7 RMAC) returned to action versus the Adams State Grizzlies (9-9,7-6 RMAC), Friday night in Alamosa. The Rangers were coming off a narrow loss to Colorado Mesa the previous week - tonight, Regis couldn't overcome the Grizzlies' strong shooting and fell, 62-68.

How it Happened: After RU led by as much as seven points in the first half, the Grizzlies came back on a 11-2 run to open the third frame. After the run, ASU led 23-18 at the 7:03 mark. From there, Regis finished the period on a 14-8 run and cut their deficit to just one point at the half (32-31) as the teams headed to the locker room.

RU had their best shooting performance of the night in the third period as they went 60 percent (9-15) from the field and 43 percent (3-7) from behind the arc to take a commanding 53-41 lead at the end of the third period.

However, Adams would go off on the offensive side of the floor in the final frame by going 61 percent (11-18) from the field. ASU cruised to a 27-9 run to finish the game, solidifying their 68-62 win over the Rangers.

Game Notes: Freshman Megan Pohs (5-17 FG, 3-10 3-PT) led Regis by tying her career-high of 15 points.

Graduate student Tashika Burrell (6-11 FG, 1-4 3-PT) added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Junior Josey Ryan (5-11 FG, 0-3 3-PT) also had 13 points.

Up Next for the Rangers: RU will face CSU Pueblo tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in Pueblo, Colo.
