4 Rangers selected to RMAC All-Conference teams, Carlson-Du Toit named RMAC Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After ending the regular season on a high note, closing on a four-game winning streak to punch its playoff ticket, the Regis University men's soccer team was well represented Thursday when the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the All-Conference teams and major award winners.

A total of seven Regis players received recognition – including one First Team All-Conference selection – while sophomore Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit was named RMAC Player of the Year and freshman Matteo Colombo earned Co-Freshman of the Year honors.

Carlson-Du Toit's Player of the Year award comes on the heels of phenomenal breakout season for the New Zealand native. The sophomore, playing in his first full season with the Rangers, is currently tied for the most goals in the conference (13) and tied for the most total points (30). He is also second in the conference for shots on goal with 28.

Colombo's Co-Freshman of the Year award comes after a strong defensive season for the Italian native.

The first-year has started 13 of the 16 matches he has appeared in. In addition, Colombo has also logged almost 1,000 minutes for the Rangers backline as a defender, while also exhibiting his play-making ability in the attacking third with seven shots on goal and one assist.

Carlson-Du Toit was the lone Ranger on the First Team All-Conference team, while Colombo was selected for Second Team All-RMAC alongside graduate students Kristian Hooker and Kevin Cela.

Hooker's Second Team All-Conference selection marks the third year in a row that he has been voted onto the Second Team All-Conference squad. He made up the second half of the dynamic scoring duo for the Rangers, tallying the team's second-highest goal total (6) after Carlson-Du Toit.

The fifth-year player started in 13 of the 17 matches he appeared in and has added three assists on the season. Hooker has posted a .606 shooting percentage and ranks second on the team in points with 15.

Cela's Second Team All-Conference selection marks the second year in a row that the graduate student has been voted an All-Conference player. The midfielder started 14 of the 16 matches he appeared in and logged 1,217 minutes during the regular season. Cela has helped anchor the Rangers offense with his team-leading five assists.

In addition to the four All-Conference players, Regis also had senior forward Vilhjalmur Kaldal and graduate student midfielder Michael Jimenez each earned RMAC Honorable Mention for the Rangers.
