Rangers extend point streak with scoreless draw against CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. — No goals were scored Friday when the Regis University women's soccer team traveled south to take on Colorado State University Pueblo. But a goal was accomplished as the Rangers earned a point from the 0-0 tie in the conference standings to open their weekend road trip.

Regis (7-4-2 overall, 6-0-1 RMAC) extended its unbeaten streak to seven games and remain tied atop the conference standings with Colorado School of Mines with 19 conference points. CSU Pueblo (3-9-1 overall, 2-4-1 RMAC) moved into a tie with Westminster College for seventh in the RMAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED: As the final score would indicate, the two teams played each other nearly even across the board Friday, finishing tied with seven total shots apiece. Regis tallied four of its seven shots in the first half.

CSU Pueblo held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks, with all four corners for the Rangers coming over the final 45 minutes, but neither team was able to take advantage of their set pieces.

Regis senior goalkeeper Katelyn Martin stopped all six shots she faced en route to earning her fourth solo shutout of the fall.

Fellow senior Kelby Kuo led the Regis attack with two shots on goal, while senior midfielder Ella Palmer added one shot on goal.

UP NEXT: The Rangers will look to get back in the win column, and extending their seven-game point streak, on Sunday when they take on nearby rival Colorado Christian University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood.
