Kuo, Teague and Leone named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. — The Regis University women's soccer program had three student-athletes selected to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday in senior forwards Kelby Kuo and Audrey Teague, as well as junior defenseman Sophia Leone.

The 2022 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

All three Rangers earned First Team All-Academic honors through the RMAC back on Oct. 31, requiring student-athletes to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher while being an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.

Kuo, named to the Second Team All-South Central Region D2CCA Team earlier Tuesday, has a 3.97 GPA as a Biological and Biomedical Sciences major. On the field, she tied for the team lead in goals scored with seven, earning First Team All-RMAC honors and helping the Rangers advance to their second straight RMAC Tournament title game.

Teague also tallied seven goals during 2022 and led all Rangers with 17 total points en route to earning Second Team All-RMAC and Second Team All-South Central Region honors from the D2CCA. Academically, she earned First Team All-Academic through the RMAC and sports a 3.77 GPA as a Biological and Biomedical Sciences major.

Leone earns her Academic All-District honor with a spotless 4.0 GPA as a Health major and is coming off a breakout 2022 season that saw the junior start 16 of 21 games, play a career-high 1,587 minutes and tally one assist while helping anchor a Regis defense that allowed just 21 goals in 21 games this past fall.

All three Regis student-athletes will now move on to be considered for the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-American selections.
