Kristian Hooker earns First Team Academic All-American honors

| By:
AUSTIN, Texas — For the third time in his decorated career, Regis University graduate student Kristian Hooker has been voted an Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, announced by the organization on Wednesday.

The 2022 Academic All-American Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Hooker, who was named Second Team Academic All-American in 2020-21 and 2021-22, made his debut on the First Team Academic All-American team this season.

The Monument, Colorado native advanced to the All-American ballot after being named CSC Academic All-District for the fourth straight year back in November, which required student-athletes to maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while being an active student at their institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters.

Hooker has maintained a spotless 4.0 GPA as a Biochemistry major during all five years of his career at Regis. On the field, the forward was a critical piece to the Rangers' success as he started 14 of 18 games this past fall, played a career high 1,102 minutes, and racked up the second most points on the team with 15 (6 goals, 3 assists).

He was one of two RMAC student-athletes recognized as CSC Academic All-Americans, joined on the First Team by Michael Sprauer from Colorado School of Mines.

The first team from Division II matched its Division I counterparts with a 3.91 average GPA and the full team posted a 3.86. The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.
