DENVER - The Regis University women's basketball team (11-17,7-14 RMAC) dropped their Friday night contest to the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves (21-6,17-4 RMAC) at the Regis Field House. Graduate student
Tashika Burrell led the Rangers with 19 points and four assists in the 57-72 loss.
How it Happened: A 7-0 run from Pueblo to start the game didn't faze RU as they matched with one of their own to tie the game at 7-7. But the ThunderWolves' impressive shooting put them back in front as the period progressed.
After trailing by as much as nine in the second frame, Regis came back within four when junior
Morgan L. Smith got a pair at the charity stripe before the half expired.
With the score at 27-31 as the third began, CSU Pueblo went on 8-0 run which gave them a 39-27 advantage over Regis.
Even with RU's most efficient shooting period of the night (40 percent), the fourth period proved to be just as successful for Pueblo. Regis found themselves down 54-72 as the clock was nearing zero. Burrell drilled a triple in Regis' final possession, making the final score 72-57 in favor of the ThunderWolves.
