DENVER - The Regis University women's basketball team (12-17,8-14 RMAC) capped their season with arguably their best offensive performance all year. The Rangers capitalized on 53 percent shooting from the floor and 48 percent shooting from deep to beat the Grizzlies of Adams State (12-15,10-12 RMAC) Saturday night at the Regis Field House.
How it Happened: Regis owned a big 17-point lead (4-21) just seven minutes into the contest after junior
Sam Deem got a layup in the paint. After Regis' 67 percent field goal percentage in the first frame, RU kept their foot on the gas pedal.Â
Regis took off on a 18-2 run in the third period which inflated their lead to 67-42. Another 9-2 run from the home team to start the fourth and final period gave them their largest lead of the night (29 points) after Deem drained a trey.Â
ASU made a small comeback as the period came to a close, but never had a chance of beating RU. In the end, the Rangers won it 92-74.Â
Here's what Head Coach
Molly Marrin had to say about the win, "Who's not going to feel great after that one? We've had a challenging year. But tonight the girls said it, we all said it, to play for 'T' [
Tashika Burrell] and they did that. Having that confidence and just knowing that we sent her out the right way.Â
She continued, "And you know, this season wasn't ideal for us. But this was the perfect way to go into the spring with this team, so I couldn't be happier. You see the depth, you see that different contributor every night and now we have multiple girls in double figures. That's tough, plus our defense was much better."
Game Notes: Regis has their best shooting percentage from behind the arc (48 percent) and tied their second-highest field-goal percentage all season long.

Freshman
