Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dawson Smashing His Career-High and Two Double-Doubles Not Enough Versus CCU

Dawson brings home 37 points while Bokol and Ebiriekwe nab double-doubles

DENVER - The No. 13 Regis University men's basketball team (16-3,11-2 RMAC) lost a close one to the Colorado Christian Cougars (7-13,4-10 RMAC), Friday night in Lakewood. The highlight of the night was senior guard Brian Dawson smashing his career-high with an astounding 37 points. But tonight, it wasn't enough. In the end, CCU handed the Rangers just their second conference loss of the season.

How it Happened: The Cougars were in control for a majority of the first frame and even led by as much as 13 points. But a 27-12 run through the first ten minutes of the second half propelled Regis back into the game.

After freshman forward Brayden Carter laid down a huge dunk to tie the game at 63-63 with 10 minutes to go, it was a back-and-forth affair. Neither team would lead by more than a score as the final media timeout sounded. CCU barely had the edge as they ended the game on a 11-7 run and won it, 86-81.

Game Notes: Regis was 50 percent (31-62) from the field and 38 percent from behind the arc (11-29).

Dawson (14-24 FG, 7-14 3-PT) was on fire tonight with 37 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Redshirt junior guard/forward Kevin Ebiriekwe (3-9 FG, 0-1 3-PT) and junior guard Aaron Bokol (4-4 FG, 2-2 3-PT) each had double-doubles in the loss. Both had 11 points while Bokol had 11 boards and Ebiriekwe had 10.

Up Next for the Rangers: The squad will look to amend things tomorrow night in a matchup with MSU Denver (13-7, 7-7 RMAC). The 6 p.m. game will be televised locally on Channel-2.
