GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The No. 3 Regis University softball team (35-23) took on the No. 5 UCCS Mountain Lions (27-23) in a lose-or-go-home battle Friday in the RMAC Tournament, which is being hosted by No. 1 Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction. Yesterday, the Rangers beat No. 6 Fort Lewis, but fell in game two to No. 2 CCU, forcing them into the elimination bracket. After a tough pitchers' duel, Regis fell 1-2 to UCCS.
How it Happened: Freshman RHP
Kylie Harpman (L, 20-8) started in the circle for Regis in game three.Â
The low scoring affair commenced in the second inning when UCCS brought home two runs off a RBI double and a fielder's choice RBI.
Harpman and junior RHP
Abby Covington kept Regis in the game, but RU just couldn't get the bats going when they needed them.
Sophomore
Carryn Leto finally put RU on the board in the fourth with a RBI double, scoring freshman
Rachel Williams. However, that was the team's only run that would cross home plate for the rest of the day. In the end, RU fell 1-2.Â
Game Notes: RU scored one run off two hits and had one error.
Sophomore
Katherine Raper and Leto had the team's two hits while Leto owned the sole RBI.
Harpman and Covington were the highlights of the game, they combined for seven strikeouts and only two walks. They also held UCCS to just eight hits.
Up Next For The Rangers: Although this marks the end for Regis' 2022 campaign, there is much to look forward to in 2023. Six of the Rangers' starters from this game will be returning next season to handle some unfinished business. For all updates regarding Regis Softball, stay tuned to
