Rangers outshoot Roadrunners, 12-11, but fall on the road to MSU Denver

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's soccer team took on their cross-town rival Metropolitan State University Denver on Sunday, with freshman Liam Corr scoring his first career goal as a Ranger, but falling 2-1.

The Rangers (3-9-2 overall, 1-4-1 RMAC) outshot the Roadrunners (5-8-2 overall, 3-4-0 RMAC), 12-11, but only found the back of the net once.

How It Happened: The Roadrunners jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, but Corr quickly answered with a goal of his own in the 27th minute.

MSU Denver answered with another goal of their own in the 42nd minute, but the Rangers refused to go away quietly.

At the beginning of the second half, the Rangers took six straight chances at the goal, forcing MSU Denver's goalkeeper to work for his keep and save half of them. Regis finished the night with five shots on goal.

With 10 minutes remaining on the clock, junior forward Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit and graduate student forward Michael Jimenez took back-to-back shots at the goal, but both of their shots were blocked.

Game Notes:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Cristian Sattin finished with four saves
  • Junior forward Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit led the Rangers in shots with six
  • Regis and MSU Denver tied in corner kicks with four

Up Next: The Rangers host Colorado Christian University on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
