Trio of Rangers named First Team All-Academic, 12 student-athletes earn Honor Roll

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced Thursday the First Team All-Academic and Honor Roll teams for women's soccer, with a total of 15 Rangers earning recognition.

To be eligible for First Team consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. First Team All-Academic members were voted on by the conference's sports information directors for meeting those criteria, as well as demonstrating outstanding performance on the field. Student-athletes not voted to the First Team, and who carry a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, automatically qualified for Honor Roll.

A trio of Regis players garnered First Team All-Academic honors in sophomore forward Natalie Bunch, senior defenseman Sophia Leone and fifth-year senior forward Kelby Kuo, while 12 other Rangers earned a spot on the Honor Roll.

Thursday's announcement marked the debut on the First Team All-Academic team for Bunch, who enjoyed a breakout sophomore season in 2023 en route to being named a First Team All-RMAC player. At the time of the announcement, she led all Rangers with 11 goals scored and 26 total points through 19 games played, including three game-winning goals.

Academically, Bunch currently boasts a 3.76 GPA as an Elementary Education major.

Leone and Kuo are repeat winners for the Rangers after the duo were each First Team All-Academic winners in 2022.

Kuo, a CSC Academic All-District winner in 2022, ranks third on the Rangers in goals scored this fall (7), including a game-winner in the upset of then ranked No. 4 Colorado Mesa and a crucial equalizer in the Rangers' RMAC Quarterfinal win against CSU Pueblo. She has also continued to shine in the classroom with a 3.83 GPA as a Biological and Biomedical Sciences major.

As for Leone, she earns her second appearance on the First Team All-Academic team with a sparkling 3.98 GPA as a Health and Exercise Science major. A CSC Academic All-District winner in 2022, Leone has continued to be a staple of the Regis defense on the field, starting 15 of 18 games and logging over 1,200 minutes for a Rangers' defense that has posted six shutouts in 2023.
