Rangers picked fourth in 2024 RMAC Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll

| By:
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2024 RMAC Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Wednesday, with the Regis University softball team picked fourth.

Regis ranked fourth with 92 points ahead of the Colorado School of Mines in fifth (80 points) and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in sixth (61 points).

Colorado Christian was picked first overall with 117 points and eight first place votes. Rounding out the top three was Metropolitan State University Denver with 108 points and two first place votes. Colorado Mesa University was picked third with 107 points and the remaining two first place votes.

Regis finished the 2023 season with a 33-25 overall record and went 28-16 in conference play. Their regular season performance also earned them the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Championship tournament.

With five pitchers and five starters returning–and a total of 13 upperclassmen–Regis is looking to take it all this year with a deep and experienced roster, including players to watch Miia Campos, Kylie Harpman, Olivia Wick, and Rachel Williams.

Campos returns to the diamond as Regis' sole RMAC All-Conference First Team selection. Campos finished the season with a .351 batting average, second-best on the team, and a team-leading 47 RBIs.

Junior pitcher Harpman returns after a season's performance that landed her on the RMAC All-Conference Second Team. She finished the 2023 season with a 2.70 ERA and a total of 193 strikeouts, placing her fourth and second in the conference, respectively.

Wick had herself a standout freshman season, working her way into the starting lineup and consistently batting in the two spot. She started all 58 games and finished with a .284 batting average. In addition, she ranked second on the team in walks (41) while also ranking third in home runs (6).

Williams returns as one of Regis' biggest bats and a wall behind the plate. The then-sophomore finished with a team-high total bases (107) and the leading slugging percentage (.622) while ranking eighth in the conference in batting average (.374). Behind the plate, she finished with the best fielding percentage with at least 50 chances at .996.

The Rangers open their 2024 season with the DII Spring Invitational Kickoff Tournament down in Houston, Texas against several south central region teams.
