DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team hosted University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon, defeating UCCS 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19). The match was a apart of their Regional Pod Matches, not affecting their RMAC record.
The Rangers improve to 7-7 )3-1 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions fall to 7-7 (2-2 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Regis would jump out to a quick 5-1 lead in the first set behind three blocks from Braiziah Dixon, one solo and two assisted by Bryn McNair. She would add another assisted by Lindsey Cure, but UCCS battled back for the 9-7 lead. Halle Theis added two kills as a part of a 4-0 run, then three straight as Regis took the 23-17 lead. Reagan Hickey and Davis assisted a block, and Dixons kill ended the first, 25-18.
Dixon started the second with a pair of kills, and Davis quickly recorded three block, one solo and two assisted by Hickey. After trading points with the Mountain Lions, Cure's kill sparked a 8-1 run that saw two Davis solo blocks, and a Krissy Brei service ace. Theis would then end the set, 25-15 with two kills.
The Mountain Lions would build an early lead in the third, going up 6-2 then, following a Davis solo block and kill, 10-5. Cure and Dixon blocked a pair of UCCS attempts, and McNair put down a kill and Davis-assisted block, but the Rangers still trailed, 18-19. Davis had three late kills, but it was not enough as RU fell, 22-25.
Dixon aced a serve to go with a kill, Cure recorded two kills as did McNair and Davis as Regis built a 10-4 lead. UCCS was able to tie the match at 12-12, but Dixon's kill was followed by five straight Ranger blocks, three by Dixon and Cure, one by Dixon and McNair, and one solo by Dixon. Brei added another late ace, and Davis posted two kills for the win, 25-19.
