DENVER, Colo. – Regis University Athletics officially began last week which means that the fall sports season is officially underway.

VOLLEYBALL
The Rangers opened their season at the Fort Hays Tiger Classic this past weekend, going 1-3 against opponents from three different conferences.
They began their stay with an emphatic 3-2, come-from-behind five set victory over Eastern New Mexico before dropping the next three matches of their stay against host Fort Hays State, Truman State and Midwestern State.
Weekend Notes:
· 16 different Rangers appeared in one set or more while nine of them made their Regis debut
· Kailyn Polzin and Kendal Allaire both have 33 kills to tie for the team lead
· Three players have 30 digs or more while three also have 10 block assists or more
· Cady Knight leads the team with six aces
· Maddie Lynett and Nicole Shaver both lead the team in assists with over 60 each, respectively
Coming up this week the Rangers will now play five matches in a four-day stretch as they host their home opener on Wednesday Fort Hays State before being one of the host sites for this year's 2026 Colorado Premier Challenge.
They will place twice on Friday against Central Missouri and Wayne State (Neb.) and twice on Saturday with their final two opponents to be determined after seedings happen following Friday's matches.
A total of seven teams ranked in the preseason AVCA coaches will be in attendance for the tournament with this being one of the nation's most exclusive tournaments.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
The women's soccer team went 1-1 this past week as they began their year with a 3-0 win over East Central University before falling to Rollins College 2-0.
Their victory over the Tigers was the second year in a row the Rangers have won their home opener with it also being the first time the two schools have ever met.
The Rangers are playing to eight straight home games to start their season with every single one of their nonconference games being at home and then the first two of conference play. Overall, they have 12 home contests on the year.
Weekend Notes:
· Three different Rangers scored goals for the team with Blake Plummer having the game-winner
· Paige Davis and Addysen Gasser would each record the other goals
· Gasser also finished with one assist and leads the team with three points so far
· A total of 26 players have appeared on the pitch with seven of them making their Ranger debut against East Central
· The Rangers' shutout of East Central was the first time they have completed that feat since Oct. 24th against Western Colorado in 2025
Regis will now host two in-region opponents this week in No. 5 Dallas Baptist University (1-0) and St. Edward's (0-0-1) on Sep. 3rd and 6th. Both schools hail from the Lone Star Conference with this being the second year in a row the Rangers will face off with DBU.
MEN'S SOCCER
The Regis men's soccer team played to one of their biggest upsets in recent history this past Saturday as they took down No. 3 in the nation, Fort Hays State on the road by a score of 1-0 to open their fall.
The Rangers played to a scoreless first half in the win before senior Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar secured the game-winning goal in the 57th minute.
This is the Rangers highest ranked win since beating #1 Colorado School of Mines in 2010, and the first top-5 win since beating #4 Colorado School of Mines in 2021.
Game Notes:
· Regis took a total of seven shots with three on goal
· Zach Jennings posted a complete game shutout in the net with three saves, facing 10 total shots
· FHSU took five corners, Regis took two
The Rangers will continue their nonconference portion of the season this week when they take to California for a pair of matchups against Cal State LA (2-0) and Cal State San Bernardino (1-0-1).
Both were picked to finish in the top five of the CCAA this fall with each earning one first-place vote. Regis is the only RMAC school each opponent will face this year as well.
MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will officially open their fall season this weekend when they take part in the UCCS Ruster Buster at Monument Valley Park.
The men's team will run in an 8K while the women's team will do a 5K.
A total of six collegiate schools are competing in the event with three of them being from the RMAC.
The Rangers will compete in four different regular season meets this fall before postseason races begin in November.
For the men's team, five runners return to compete for the squad while adding four new members. The women's team has four returners and four newcomers as well.
Both team's were picked to finish 13th in the RMAC preseason poll.
