Ranger Suffer Second Straight Loss in Texas

TYLER, Texas – The Regis University Men's Basketball team dropped the second game of their Texas road trip to the University of Texas-Tyler, 48-75. The Rangers fall to 1-3 on the year, while the Patriots improve to 1-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Chase Mayo Harmon scored the first basket of the game for the Rangers, a layup assisted by Ty Cox, but the Patriots were still able to take an early 14-2 lead. Mayo Harmon found Olafur Styrmission for a three, but Tyler still managed to extend its dominant lead, 28-6. Jalen Brown found Mayo Harmon for a triple, then hit two free throws of his own, while Aaron Ofstun's. layup, assisted by Kobe Sanders, brought the score to 30-13. Brown had back-to-back steels that led to fast break layups, and Ofstun ended the half with a layup, but the ranger still trailed 36-19. 

An early MAyo Harmon three began the scoring for Regis in the second, while Eddy Egun hit a pair of free throws and Trey Bryant nailed a shot from deep. UT-Tyler did not falter, however, and just continued to extend their lead. Quinn Lambert contributed a layup while Brown continued to lead the Rangers scoring. Ofstun had a layup for the final basket of the game, and the Rangers fell to the Patriots 75-48.

GMAE NOTES

·        Brown led the Rangers with 16 points and three steals, while Mayo Harmon added 12, going 50% from deep

·        Three Rangers recorded five rebounds

·        Sanders dished five assists

·        Nikolas Gustavson led all players with 21 points for the Patriots

·        UTT outshot RU from the floor, 47.5% - 29.5%, and from deep, 39% - 17%

·        Regis had more fast break points, 13-10, and but more turnovers, 11-8
