KEARNEY, Neb. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team dropped a non-conference road game to University of Nebraska-Kearney, 71-84, on Friday night. The Rangers drop to 5-6, while the Lopers improve to 2-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers started the match with a pair of threes from Kobe Sanders and Trey Bryant, while Eddy Egun added a layup to bring the score to 8-7. Bryant set up Chi Achara's layup, then scored from deep to put RU ahead 19-14. Chase Mayo Harmon got his own rebound, leading to a put-back, then hit a triple to keep Regis in the lead by eight. Quinn Lambert's layup gave the Rangers their largest lead of the game, 36-27, and Achara's jumper left the game at 43-35 going into the break.
The Lopers started the second half hot, quickly tying the game at 47-47. Egun's three ended the run, and Jalen Brown added another to go up four, but Kearney took their first lead since early in the first half with a pair of free throws at 11:57, 59-58. Egun hit two from the line to give Regis the 61-60 lead, but UNK took control of the game late, outscoring the Rangers, 25-11 to close out the match including three three-pointers.
GAME NOTES
· Egun led the Rangers with 19 points, while Kearney's Allen Taylor led all players with 25
· Brown scored 16, while Bryant had 15 points with seven rebounds
· Jalen Page blocked two shots
· Regis grabbed 33 rebounds to 30 from Kearney, but committed eight more turnovers, 12-4
