LAS VEGAS, NM- The Regis University Men's Basketball team overpowered the Cowboys, 96-85, in their RMAC opener Thursday night on the road. The Rangers improve to 3-4 (1-0 RMAC) while the Cowboys fall to 6-2 (0-1 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
Within the first 30 seconds of the game,
Chase Mayo Harmon threw down a dunk, scoring first for the Rangers. As the team traded early leads,
Trey Bryant would grab a defensive board and go coast to coast with a layup, RU up 9-7. Cowboys would turnover the ball as RU capitalized, with Mayo Harmon from three, assisted by
Jalen Brown. Rangers continued gaining momentum with a dunk from Archara, assisted Brown, and then Brown would find Archara again in the paint. Highlands tied it up 29-29 with six minutes to go until Mayo and Bryant each scored from beyond the arc. Rangers continued their run, closing the half 53-40.

Eddy Egun would continue the Ranger's momentum into the 2
nd half with two jumpers from the paint.
Kobe Sanders would then find
Eddy Egun from across the court for a fast break dunk, RU leading, 67-51. Highlands started to chip away at the lead with two back-to-back layups and a three, 66-73. Regis stayed on top after an offensive rebound and put back from
Ty Cox and a layup by Brown, 86-75. RU continued steady, securing the win, 96-85. Â

"Our guys showed a lot of poise tonight against their relentless pressure. We executed the game plan and stayed focused," said Head Coach

Mayo Harmon shot 66.7% from three and 72.7% from the field.

Three more Rangers would score in the double digits, with Brown scoring 18, Egun 16, and Bryant totaling 14.

Achara would lead RU with 11 rebounds, while Cox grabbed seven.

RU would outshoot the Cowboys 61.4% to 43.8% from the field and 55.0% to 36.4% from the three.
