Trio of Regis teams win RMAC Brechler Awards for 2023-24

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the winners of the 2023-24 Brechler Awards this week, recognizing the conference's best team grade-point averages for each of its 22 NCAA-sponsored sports throughout the academic year.

Regis University had three teams across the institution's 12 sponsored sports earn the awards as the baseball, women's lacrosse and softball programs all earned Brechler Award honors for 2023-24.

This week's announcement marked the ninth-consecutive season in which the Regis softball program has captured the Brechler Award. The 2024 RMAC Tournament champions sported a team GPA of 3.627.

Regis women's lacrosse, fresh off its fifth straight RMAC regular season and tournament titles, and a march to the program's third NCAA Division II Final Four, posted the highest team GPA for the Rangers with a 3.711.

As for Regis baseball, the program also enjoyed a historic spring as the Rangers earned their first return trip to a NCAA Division II regional tournament since 2012. Brechler Award recipients in 2022, the Rangers earned their spot back on the winners list this spring with a 3.583 team GPA.

The Brechler Awards are named in honor of Paul W. Brechler, a former RMAC commissioner (1976-90), and his wife Wanda Brechler, who were the first inductees into the RMAC Hall of Fame. Each team's GPA is calculated by dividing the total quality points by the total number of credits for each semester. Team GPAs were submitted to the RMAC office by each institution's compliance administrator.
