CHADRON, Neb. – The Regis University Women's Basketball team defeated Chadron State College (Neb.) on the road, Saturday afternoon 81-63. The Rangers improve to 6-7 (4-2 RMAC) while the Eagles fall to 2-10 (1-5 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Regis started the scoring with a jumper from
Erin Fry. Chadron went on an 11-point run, not allowing Regis to score until the final seconds of the quarter.
Mary Crossland closed the quarter with a three, assisted by Fry and RU trailed 14-6.
Taylin Serlen and Pearl Green got the Rangers going in the second with a couple of layups, but the Eagles would continue to answer back leading 22-16. Saragoza would hit one from downtown, but RU still faced a 29-21 deficit going into the half.
In the third, the Rangers would get hot, Fry finding Saragoza for a fast break layup and Serlen scoring from the paint, RU leads for the first time 42-39. The Rangers kept the momentum throughout the period, leading 50-44 heading into the fourth.
Jessica Bollwahn started the Rangers' 17-point run with a layup, assisted by Crossland. Saragoza scored back-to-back triples, leading RU 71-54.
Rachel George closed the game with a three, helping the Rangers win 81-63.
GAME NOTES
Saragoza would lead RU with 29 points, and Fry followed with 16 points and eight assists.
Bollwahn had a season-high 18 rebounds.
Rangers would score 30 points in the fourth quarter.
RU outshot the Eagles 39.5% to 36.7% from the floor and 25.9% to 18.2% from the three.
