Rangers Compete at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Indoor Track and Field team competed at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite on Saturday.

Allie Braney recorded the highest finish of the day, taking 7th place in the in the 3,000 meter run, recording a time of 11:04.25.

Melayna Barclay earned eighth place in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 2:22.35, while Madilyn Gifford took 17th with a time of 2:46.44.

Caitie Slattery finished 14th in the mile run with a mark of 5:43.84.

Barclay, Gifford, and Slattery were joined by Dorothy Freeman in the 4x400 meter relay, where the team finished sixth with a time of 4:29.39,

Three Rangers also competed in field events. In the weight throw, Marisa Martinez took 18th with a throw of 7.11m (23'4"), ahead of teammate Kimberly Salazar, who took 19th with a mark of 5.44m (17'10.25").

Martinez posted a shot put mark of 8.13m (26'8.25"), taking 23rd, Salazar took 25th at 8.00m (26'3"), and Amy Batista took 27th at 3.69m (12'1.25").

"Our women competed well," said Head Coach Willie Moore. "We finished the meet with a few personal bests including Marisa Martinez in the shot put, Allie Braney in the 3k, and Caitie Slattery in the mile. It was awesome to see Coach Michela, Coach Frye, and many members of the men's/women's team drive down to support." 

The Rangers return to competition on Jan 31 at the University of Colorado Invite.
