CONROE, Texas – The Regis University Softball team started their 2025 campaign with a pair of matchups against top ranked teams at the 2025 DII First Pitch Invitational. Regis started the day against #11 Angelo State (Texas), falling 0-8, then dropped the nightcap, 0-8 to #1 University of Texas at Tyler. The Rangers are now 0-2, while the Rambelles and Patriots are both 2-0.
GAME ONE
ASU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, scoring on a two-RBI double. The Rambelles continued to add to their lead across each inning, with an RBI single and two RBI triple in the second, an RBI single in the third, and an RBI single and fielders choice RBI in the fourth, leading to an 8-0 win.
Bella Bordine was the lone baserunner for the Rangers, being walked once.
Kylie Harpman (L, 0-1) recorded the loss with one strikeout.
Cheyenne Floyd (W, 1-0) earned the win, recording 13 K's
GAME TWO
In the late game, Ariana Ybarra started the game with a single, but the Patriots were the first on the board, with back-to-back scoring plays on a triple and a single. Bordine and Jessica Isbell both reached base in the second, but the Rangers were unable to capitalize. UTT came alive in the bottom of the third, with three RBI doubles and two sacrifice flies to bring their lead to 7-0. A double in the bottom of the fifth brought in the deciding run, and Tyler won, 8-0.
Vanessa Candito (L, 0-1) recorded the loss, while Cera Blanchard (W, 1-0) earned the win
