COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Soccer team, ranked #25 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, traveled to #15 University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon for an RMAC matchup, but left with a 0-3 loss. The Rangers fall to 8-2-2 (4-1-1 RMAC) on the season, while UCCS improves to 9-1-2 (5-0-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
UCCS pushed the offensive pressure from the very start, taking 11 of the first 12 shots of the match, with three on goal being saved by Helen Stegner. However, the 12th shot for the Mountain Lions would find the net at 30:43. After errant shots by Mya Pasion and Natalie Bunch, UCCS pushed the lead to 2-0in the 38th minute. Stegner saved one more try before the end of the half.
The pace continued into the second half, as Stegner saved two more attempts before Natalie Bunch put a shot on goal. That was quickly followed by one from Fernanda Rodriguez, and two more on target by UCCS. The Mountain Lions never let up, as late in the game, with a woman-up advantage, they put three more shots on goal, and one in the net for the 3-0 win.
