Rangers Fall 2-1 at Roadrunners

Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer traveled across town to Metropolitan State University and fell 2-1. The Rangers stand at 4-5-3 (2-2-1 RMAC) on the season, while MSU improves to 6-2-5 (4-0-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
MSU Denver struck early, netting a goal within the first 11 minutes of play to take a 1-0 lead. The Rangers responded with pressure of their own, as Jacobo Betancourt and Jan Grillitsch each forced saves from the Roadrunners' goalkeeper. Jason Robles added one final attempt late in the half but sent it high, sending Regis into halftime trailing 1-0.
 
Just three minutes into the second half, a foul inside the box gave the Rangers a chance to even the score. Elias Taubo stepped up and converted the penalty kick to make it 1-1. Grillitsch and Johan Murillo each added shots on goal as Regis continued to press, but in the 76th minute, MSU Denver regained the lead with a penalty kick of their own.
 
The Roadrunners fired off four more shots in the closing minutes, and despite a strong effort, the Rangers couldn't find the equalizer, falling 2-1 on the road.

GAME NOTES 

Taubo would receive the only goal for Regis.
 
RU totaled five shots on goal while MSU had 10.
 
Zach Jennings recorded eight saves, facing 16 shots.
 
The Rangers received two yellow cards.
