SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Regis University Men's Soccer team earned a 1-0 road win over Westminster University (Utah) in an RMAC matchup on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers climb to 5-5-4 (3-2-2 RMAC) on the year, while the Griffins drop to 7-5-2 (3-2-2 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Elias Taubo started the match with two early shots, landing one on goal, but from there, the first half would be a defensive battle. Regis only allowed two shots by WU in the entire period, both going out high. Jan Grillitsch and Jason Robles both had shots on goal to close out the half, but the match went into the break tied at 0-0.
The second half followed the same pace, as the first shot game 12 minutes in by Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar. That was followed by a shot on target by Sahar Golov, and three shots by Westminster, the final one saved by Zach Jennings. Grillitsch hit the right post with his shot, and with less than five minutes left Johan Murrillo put in a goal assisted by a Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit header for the win.
