Rangers Get Revenge Over Cougars

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team defeated Colorado Christian University, Thursday evening, 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 31-29, 27-25). The Rangers improve to 3-18 (2-8 RMAC) on the season, while the Cougars fall to 9-12 (4-6 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Brooke Sanford opened the scoring for Regis, followed by kills from Sabrina Landman and Braziaha Dixon to even things up at 7-7. The Rangers then caught fire, going on a five-point run fueled by Landman and Sanford, capped off by an ace from Krissy Brei to take a 16-13 lead. Regis closed out the set strongly with three consecutive kills to secure the 25-22 win. 

Regis carried its momentum into the second set with back-to-back kills from Landman, but CCU responded with a four-point run to take the lead at 8-6. The Rangers fought their way back, highlighted by a block from Bailey Nichols and Dixon to tie it at 14-14. However, the Cougars regained control late, pulling ahead and taking the set 25-19 to even the match.

The third set featured intense back-and-forth action. Kendal Allaire sparked the offense with a pair of kills, while an attack from Alayna Pruitt leveled the score at 8-8. Both teams traded points until CCU surged ahead 21-17. Regis answered with determination, as kills from Dixon and Nichols ignited a seven-point run to take a 24-23 lead. The Rangers capitalized on Cougar miscues and sealed the marathon set 31-29.

Riding their momentum, the Rangers stormed out to an 8-3 advantage in the fourth. Dixon and Sanford continued to dominate at the net, maintaining a narrow 20-18 edge. In the final moments, Sanford and Allaire delivered clutch kills to close out the set 27-25, clinching the match for the Rangers.

GAME NOTES 

Landman led Ru with 12 kills, followed by Dixon with 11. 

Smith recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. 

Dixon totaled three blocks. 

Krissy Brei had 22 digs. 

Nichols dished out 41 assists.
