Bollwahn Posts Monster Double-Double in Nailbiter Against Fort Lewis

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss on Saturday evening at home to Fort Lewis College (Colo.), 67-64. The Rangers fall to 0-6 (0-2 RMAC) on the year, while the Skyhawks improve to 6-2 (1-1 RMAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Caitie Turnbow started the game strong for the Rangers, scoring the first five points and grabbing two steals. While FLC was able to build a six point lead, a Mary Crossland jumper ended the run. Jessica Bollwahn hit two triples, and Turnbow ended the opening period with an and-one, but RU trailed, 21-16.

Bollwahn opened the second with a layup, while Emily Allison scored from deep to bring the game within one. Savanna Dotray provided the Skyhawks a steal and a pair of free throws, but a Crossland three-pointer and two Turnbow free throws gave Regis a 29-28 advantage. Late in the half, Bollwahn tied the game at 35-35, but a jumper with under 10 seconds gave Fort Lewis the 38-35 halftime lead.

Regis started the third with baskets from Turnbow and Allison, and with the game tied at 41-41, Kaylin Venick got it done from deep and in the paint. The teams traded leads and ties, with Allison and Turnbow supplying the offense Regis. Venick hit a late, fastbreak jumper, and the game went into the deciding period tied, 52-52.

Fort Lewis started the fourth with back-to-back threes, but Allison got RU back on the board with a three, assisted by Bollwahn. Bollwahn then scored off an offensive board, and Venick hit both from the stripe for the 59-58 lead. Bollwahn led the Rangers offense as the teams exchanged small leads. But trailing by three with six seconds left, the Rangers attempt to send the game to overtime narrowly missed, and the Skyhawks prevailed, 67-64.

GAME NOTES

·         Bollwahn led all players with 19 points and 19 rebounds

·         19 rebounds is tied for the third-highest total in Regis history (Tae'lor Purdy '13, Whitney Jacob '19). It is the second-highest total in the RMAC this year

·         She also added six steals, two blocks, and five assists

·         Turnbow (14), Venick (13), and Allison (13) all posted double-digits as well

·         Makayla Porter scored 17 for FLC

·         RU shot better from the floor, 42% - 39%, and from deep, 32% - 30%, but Fort Lewis had the advantage at the line, 62% - 59%

·         Both teams scored 28 in the paint

The Rangers close out 2025 with a road match at Western Colorado on December 13.
