DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday evening, as Regis lost to Black Hills State University (S.D.), 77-62. The Rangers fall to 15-9 (13-3 RMAC), while the Yellowjackets climb to 14-10 (10-6 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Regis scored the first five points of the game as Eddy Egun hit a pair of free throws and set up a Chase Mayo Harmon three-pointer. Egu hit a three of his own, but BHSU evened the score at 12-12. Kobe Sanders and Jalen Page added pair of buckets, but the Yellowjackets took the lead, 17-16. Ty Cox and Mayo Harmon scored back-to-back threes, but Black Hills matched each basket. After a Mayo Harmon jumper in the paint, RU didn't score for the final three and a half minutes of the half, and trailed, 29-35 going into the break.
BHSU pushed the lead to 39-29 before Mayo Harmon earned a trip to the line, but still kept the momentum, leading 46-32. Trey Bryant's jumper starts a short run that included a Jalen Brown and-one and three-pointer, closing the deficit to seven, but the Yellowjackets matched with their own run, ballooning their advantage to 68-47 after two consecutive threes. Bryant led the scoring late, but it wasn't enough as Regis fell, 62-77.
"Give credit to Black Hills," said Head Coach Brady Bergeson. "They outplayed us on both sides of the court tonight. They defended us really well. We struggled to make enough shots tonight to make a real run."
