DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball Team split a pair of games in their RMAC doubleheader on Sunday against Adams State University (Colo.). The Rangers fell in the first game 8-3 but defeated the Grizzlies 12-1 in the second game. The Rangers now sit at 6-11 (5-3 RMAC) while the Grizzlies 3-15 (1-7 RMAC).
GAME ONE
Adams State would score two runs in the top of the first.
Ariana Ybarra would single to left field, but the first run of the game would come in the bottom of the second with
Olivia Wick scoring from
Jessica Isbell single.
Natasha Ellison would tie the game for RU 2-2 headed into the third.
Grizzlies would hit a base clearing triple taking the lead 5-2 in the top of the 5
th. They would continue the hot bats, adding two more runs on the Rangers. Regis would end it in a double play down 7-2 headed into the bottom of the 5
th.
Morgan Norris would triple out to right field but would left stranded.
Adams State would add one more run in the sixth, 8-2 ASU. At the bottom of the seventh, Ybarra would score for the Rangers, but RU could not rally Regis falls 8-3.
GAME NOTES
Ybarra went three for four, totaled one run.
Five different Rangers recorded a hit.
Isbell had two RBIs.
The Grizzles had 10 total hits.
Aubree Davis was the winning pitcher, 3-7.
Hallie Crappell recorded the loss.
GAME TWO
Rangers would have hot bats to start the game scoring five runs, with four straight hits from Ellison, Isbell, Porter and Romero-Barro. Regis ahead 5-0 into the second. Norris would double to right field scoring
Mya Chacon and
Olivia Wick, RU ahead 7-0.
Adams State would find the board scoring one run in the top of the fourth, RU 7-1. Rangers had the answer scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth going up 12-1 over the Grizzles. The Rangers would get three outs, ending the game in 5 innings. Rangers won 12-1.
GAME NOTES
Isbell went two for three, and 2 RBI's.
Eight different Rangers totaled 12 hits.
The Grizzles recorded six hits.
