Rangers Celebrate Senior Day with Sweep over Skyhawks

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday with two wins over Fort Lewis College (Colo.), 7-4 and 10-1. The Rangers improve to 21-30 (20-22 RMAC), while the Skyhawks fall to 10-37 (9-34 RMAC).

GAME ONE

The Skyhawks would capitalize on a trio of hits and a trio of Regis miscues in the top of the first inning, scoring three runs. But the Rangers would dial in during the second inning, as Bella Bordine was walked, followed by a Morgan Norris double. Isabella Porter started the scoring with a singled that batted in Bordine, and Lima Magana singled to drive in Norris. Mia Moore then tripled to clear the bases, and got home on a FLC throwing error for the 5-3 lead.

Borine would lead off the third frame with a solo home run, forcing a pitching change. Fort Lewis loaded the bases in the top of the fourth inning, but Kylie Harpman caught a batter looking to get out of the jam. In the bottom of the inning, Bordine batted in another run, scoring Mya Chacon on a single up the middle.

Following a scoreless fifth inning, the Skyhawks added a run with an RBI single. However, they would get no closer, even after getting two runners on in the seventh, and Regis won, 7-4.

Mya Chacon then stole home on a double steal. Ybarra doubled again, batting in Chacon, and then stole home on another double steal. After Bordine batted in Wick, and Norris was hit by a pitch, the Skyhawks changed pitchers. However, Abby Larsen still batted in two runs with a double, and a Porter doubled brought her home for the 9-0 advantage.

Regis retired the FLC half of the fourth with a double play, and Norris started the bottom with a double to right center. Larsen brought her home for the 10th run of the game. Fort Lewis did manage one run in the fifth on an RBI grounder, got no closer than that.
