Rangers Held Scoreless Against UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Soccer team dropped an 0-2, nonconference match to University of Colorado Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon. The Rangers fall to 2-3-2, while the Mountain Lions improve to 2-3-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The teams traded shots early, with Sahar Golov taking the first of the match. Both teams were playing with pace, taking shots, but also finding themselves offside. Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar, Jan Grillitsch, and Blaise Richard all attempted shots, but in the 37th minute, UCCS scored the first goal of the game. The half expired with no more shots taken.

Ignacio Bellina powered the offense early in the second half with a pair of shots, and Kaden Cameron added another, but UCCS was still able to extend their lead with a goal in the 71st minute. A flurry of shots came from the Rangers, including Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit, Betancourt-Tovar, Felix Ploner, and Elias Taubo. Zach Jennings saved an attempt, and immediately after Blaise Richard landed a shot on goal. The match ended shortly after UCCS picked up a pair of yellow cards.

·        Regis totaled 13 shots, with three Rangers recording more than one

·        Richard recorded the lone shot on goal

·        Jennings posted three saves

·        RU attempted four corner kicks to just one by UCCS
