COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team dropped an RMAC matchup to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, 74-93, on Thursday night. The Rangers fall to 1-12 (0-7 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions climb to 9-6 (4-3 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Matt Yost grabbed a steal, leading to a Luke Soden three, assisted by Gunner Walters, early in the game, quickly followed by a Cooper Frith steal. Frith assisted on a Soden and-one before hitting a three of his own to take a 9-8 lead, as the teams traded leads, and Nick Marabito connected on a triple for his first points as a Ranger. Frith ended a 13-0 run by UCCS with a layup, and then assisted on a Marabito three. Dylan Forbord made it a one-possession game, 33-35, late in the half, but despite a Frith and-one, RU trailed 37-43 going into the break.
Frith hit all three from the charity stripe coming out of the half, but in response, the Mountain Lions would put together another 13-0 run. Yost ended the run with a driving layup, followed by a Forbord bucket and Soden three-pointer, bringing the score to 47-56. However, Colorado Springs took control of the game from there, building an 82-55 lead. Soden and Frith hit from deep, assisting one another, but it came too late, as, after jumpers from Soden and Logan Flores-Peoples UCCS held on for the 93-74 win.
