DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Basketball team fell to the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, 60-79, on Thursday night at the Gallogly Events Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Rangers fall to 0-10 (0-7 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions rise to 9-6 (5-2 RMAC).
Kaylin Venick opened the scoring for the Rangers with a layup, before
Mary Crossland accounted for the next five points with a pull-up jumper and a three-pointer to knot the game at 8–8. Regis continued to build momentum as Venick knocked down a three, Caitlin Turnbow added a jumper, and
Kate Gallery converted a pair of free throws, giving the Rangers a 21–18 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Crossland carried the offense into the second, scoring the opening five points of the quarter, while
Jessica Bollwahn buried a three-pointer. Gallery followed with four straight points for Regis, and Turnbow capped the half with a pull-up jumper as the Rangers took a 37–34 lead into the break.
The Mountain Lions seized control in the third quarter, opening the half on a 12–0 run. Bollwahn halted the surge with two free throws, and Venick added a jumper, but Regis trailed 60–45 heading into the final period.
Crossland and Gallery sparked a brief rally to start the fourth with a jumper and a three-pointer, cutting the deficit to ten. However, the Mountain Lions responded by stretching their lead to 79–57.
Legcee Fillmore closed the scoring for the Rangers with a three-pointer as Regis fell, 79–60.
GAME NOTES
Crossland led RU with 15 points, and Gallery followed with 11 points.
Bollwahn grabbed eight boards and dished three assists.
The Rangers shot 38.2% from the field and 32% from the three.
