DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team traveled to cross-town rival Metropolitan State University of Denver on Tuesday night for an RMAC matchup, 67-89. The Rangers, 1-14 (0-9 RMAC), while the Roadrunners sit at 6-11 (4-5 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Soden opened the scoring for the Rangers with a pull-up jumper, followed by a deep three from
Cooper Frith.
Dylan Forbord added a layup, and Soden capped the run with an up-and-under finish to give the Rangers a 12–8 lead. However, the Roadrunners caught fire, scoring 11 unanswered points to pull ahead 17–12. Soden would go to the line and hit a free throw after a steal from Frith, later hitting one from downtown. MSU Denver maintain their advantage 28-20.
Matt Yost would add a fade-away jumper,
Logan Flores-Peoples added one at the line, and
Gunner Walters hit a layup, closing in on the Roadrunners 25-33. MSU Denver went on a hot streak, stretching its advantage to 42–25. Soden would end the half with a triple; however, RU trailed 43-28 at the half.
Soden buried two from behind the line, and Yost followed with a three to get the Rangers on the board. Forbord converted a fast-break layup, then Soden went coast to coast and threw down a dunk.
Raheem Brizendine would hit one from beyond the arc, his first points as a Ranger, but Regis would fall behind 47-61. Flores-Peoples would add a spin around a layup, Frith added a jumper, and Yost would add a pair of free throws. Frith would nail a triple, and Flores-People would knock down a pair of free throws after an MSU-Denver technical foul.
The Rangers would fall to the Roadrunners 68-85.
GAME NOTES
Soden led the Rangers with 21 points, Yost followed with 12, and Frith with 11.
Gunner Walters grabbed seven rebounds and led with six assists.
Brizendine scored his first points as a Regis Ranger.
