DENVER, Colo- The Regis University Women's Basketball Team faced off against Metropolitan State University of Denver on Tuesday night, but fell, 73-83. The Rangers sit at 0-13 (0-9 RMAC) while the Roadrunners improve to 6-11 (4-5 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mary Crossland opened the scoring for the Rangers with a three-pointer, followed by a turnaround layup and a pull-up triple from
Kate Gallery, though MSU Denver held a narrow 9–8 edge early. The Roadrunners continued to build momentum, but Crossland and Gallery responded with back-to-back threes to pull within two, 16–14.
Jessica Bollwahn capped the quarter with a layup and a three of her own, leaving Regis trailing just 22–21 at the end of the first.
Gallery started the second-quarter scoring with another triple and later added a floater after a dish from Josephine Lynch. Savanna Smith converted a free throw following an offensive rebound, then Crossland buried another three before Smith finished a fast-break layup to give the Rangers a 32–30 lead. MSU Denver answered with a 5–0 run, but Gallery knocked down a pull-up jumper, and
Emily Allison drained a three-pointer to even the score. The teams went into halftime tied at 38–38.
Crossland and Gallery would continue their hot streak, nailing back-to-back three pointers, extending the Rangers' lead 53-47. The Roadrunners would go on a hot start of their own, scoring the next six points. Bollwahn added a free throw, and Crossland would get two more at the line to end the third quarter trailing 56-61.
Kaylin Venick added a layup and Crossland would hit her seventh three-pointer of the game to close in on the Roadrunners. Gallery hit a pull-up jumper to put the score at 63-66. MSU-Denver maintained the momentum on the Rangers, extending their lead to 76-65. Bollwahn added a layup for the team, and Gallery followed with a triple. Bollwahn would get an and one but it wouldn't be enough as the Rangers would fall on the road, 83-73.
GAME NOTES
Gallery led with 26 points, and Crossland added a career high of 23.
Venick and Bollwahn each had nine rebounds.
Crossland shot 7-9 ( ) from the three point line, tying (most recent
Athena Saragoza 11/30/24) for second most three pointers made in a game.
The Rangers shot 42.4% from the field and 51.7% from the three while the Roadrunners hit 49.2% from the field and 39.3% from the triple.
