DENVER, Colo. - The Regis University Women's Basketball Team hosted the Colorado School of Mines on Thursday night but fell, 60-76. The Rangers sit at 0-14 (0-10 RMAC) while the Orediggers sit at 12-8 (7-2 RMAC)
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Colorado School of Mines struck first, but
Mary Crossland answered with a three-pointer, followed by an and-one layup from
Jessica Bollwahn to give the Rangers an early spark.
Kate Gallery added a triple and a layup of her own, but Regis trailed 17–13 at the end of the first quarter.
Gallery opened the second quarter with a jumper off an assist from
Savanna Staff, and
Kaylin Venick completed a three-point play on a layup to give the Rangers an 18–17 lead. The Orediggers responded with a seven-point run, though
Emily Allison halted the surge with a layup and a pair of free throws. Colorado School of Mines carried a 34–24 advantage into halftime.
CSM continued its momentum to start the second half until Gallery knocked down a free throw, and Venick added a layup. Crossland came up with a steal and dished to Staff for a fast-break finish. Allison and Bollwahn each contributed jumpers as the Rangers closed within nine by the end of the third quarter, 51–42.
Bollwahn opened the fourth quarter with a pair of free throws, and Allison followed with a three-pointer. Gallery kept Regis within striking distance with a jumper and a trip to the line, cutting the deficit to 59–51. However, the Orediggers answered with seven straight points. Crossland hit another three, and Gallery added a layup to close out the game, but Regis fell 76–60 to Colorado School of Mines.
