RAPID CITY, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team dropped a road match to South Dakota Mines, 0-3 (12-25, 15-25, 22-25) on Friday night. The Rangers fall to 2-18 (1-8 RMAC), while the Hardrockers climb to 14-5 (6-3 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
RU started the match with a kill from Aaliyah Rodrakkwan, followed by a block assist form Morgan Munro and Sabrina Landman. Following a short SDM run, Alayna Pruitt put down three kills, and Kendal Allaire and Callie Parker earned a block. From there, the Hardrockers took over, going on a huge run interrupted only by blocks from Allaire, Jacie Kaniho, Munro, Parker, and Pruitt. SDM would take the first, 25-12.
That momentum carried into the second, as Mines took another early lead despite kills from Landman, Kaniho, and Pruitt. Nicole Shaver assisted three straight kill to bring the game back within one. However, the Hardrockers used another big run to go up, 18-10. Kaniho ended the streak, and Pruitt recorded back-to-back kills, but Mines took the second, 25-15.
The teams traded points to start he first set, before a quick SDM run. Munro and Landman paced the offense, and the Regis capitalized on Mines error to keep the set close. Pruitt and Lyann Sanders assisted a block, followed by a kill for Pruitt, keeping the game within a point, but even after a late Landman service ace, SDM won, 25-22.
