Rangers downed by Hardrockers once again

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Regis University Volleyball team dropped an away game to South Dakota Mines this evening as they traveled to South Dakota once again this season to take part in the RMAC Power Pod.

This was the Rangers second time falling to South Dakota Mines this season as well with them previously being beaten last week in a scheduled conference game.

The Hardrockers outscored the Rangers 75-58 in today's 3-0 sweep with the set scores being 13-25, 22-25 and 23-25.

Regis falls to 2-20 (1-9 RMAC) with the loss while SDM improved to 16-5 (7-3 RMAC).

The Hardrockers went on a 10-2 run in the first set to bolster the offense early with the second and third sets featuring a much tighter contest.

Both teams traded points with neither going above a two-point advantage for a while in the second set but ultimately a four-point run in the end gave the Hardrockers' the win after Regis led 22-21.

The third and final set saw a similar story with four lead changes occurring early before SDM clung to a two-point minimum lead past their 10th point and into the 20's.

Regis battled to make it 23-24 at set point but SDM closed the game out with a kill to earn the sweep.

The Rangers hit .151 in the match while being led by Kailyn Polzin who hit .333 herself with 14 kills and Sabrina Landman who had 11 kills to accompany a .258 hitting percentage.

Maddie Lynett added 24 assists to aide the offense while Cady Knight led the digs category with 20.
