Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rangers capture their 10th win in a row with 2-1 victory over Roadrunners

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer team eclipsed the decade mark in their win streak this evening as they took down the Metropolitan State University Roadrunners by a score of 2-1 at the Assembly Athletic Complex.

Regis is now 11-2 overall on the year while being 7-0 in conference play. The team's newly acquired 10-game winning streak also holds the title of the longest streak they've had in a season since 2004 when they won 15 games in a row.

MSU Denver to 2-7-4 (1-5-1 RMAC) with the loss while now winning three of the last five matchups between the two schools.

In the 2-1 decision this evening, the Rangers scored both of their goals in the first half while conceding just their third goal of conference play in the second half.

The duo of Paige Davis and Fernanda Rodriguez each recorded one goal apiece for RU while the lone assist of the game was from Paula Igual.

Davis scored her goal in the 13th minute of play to give the Rangers the early lead when she received a beautiful pass up field from Igual to which she chipped over the goalkeeper from short range.

Just five minutes passed before the Rangers then tacked on their second score with Rodriguez tallying her 13th goal of the season on a bouncing shot to the top right corner of the net.

Rodriguez broke a defender's ankles before her score with her then firing the shot just as MSU Denver's defense converged on her too late.

The Rangers only took four shots total in the first half with three of them being on goal.

Regis was looking for their third shutout in a row to finish the game in the second half but an 81st minute goal by the Roadrunners allowed them to get on the board but the comeback was too little as the game ended soon after.

MSU Denver ended up out shooting Regis 10-6 in the game, but both teams would only finish with three shots on goal apiece.

Maggie Payne recorded two saves in the net with this being her first goal given up in conference play since Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 27.
