DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Women's Basketball team hosted the University of Colorado Colorado Springs but fell 83–64. The Rangers move to 1-21 overall (1-17 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions improve to 17-9 (13-5 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Turnbow opened the scoring for Regis with a layup, but UCCS responded with a 13–2 run to take early control.
Kate Gallery halted the surge with a layup, followed by a three-pointer from
Mary Crossland and a jumper from
Emily Allison.
Kaylin Venick closed the quarter strong with five straight points, but the Rangers trailed 29–14 after one.
Crossland sparked the second quarter with a layup, and Gallery added a three-pointer to keep Regis within reach. After a three-minute scoring drought on both sides, Gallery knocked down another shot from beyond the arc. UCCS regained momentum with a nine-point run before Gallery converted a late layup, sending the Rangers into halftime trailing 49–24.
Regis found a rhythm in the third quarter, beginning with a pair of free throws from Turnbow.
Jessica Bollwahn followed with a layup and a three-pointer, while Crossland added a jumper. Turnbow capitalized on a steal from Venick, and Bollwahn contributed two fast-break layups to close the quarter, though UCCS maintained a 69–40 advantage.
In the final period,
Savanna Staff scored inside, and Gallery connected on back-to-back jumpers. Turnbow added two more free throws, and Gallery continued to lead the offensive charge, scoring 12 points in the final six minutes and hitting three three-pointers. Despite the late push, the Rangers fell 83–64.
