DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team dropped a road RAMC matchup to Westminster University (Utah), 92-70, on Thursday night. The Rangers fall to 1-18 (0-13 RMAC), while the Griffins improve to 9-12 (4-9 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Soden scored the first four points of the game for Regis, including a free throw and a three-pointer, while Gunner Walters connected on a pair of pull-up jumpers. After WU went up, 16-8, Soden's triple, assisted by Matt Yost, cut into the lead. The Griffins built their lead up to 20 points, 37-17, when Dylan Forbord hit a jumper, and Regis began to chip away at the deficit. Soden scored form deep again, Logan Flores-Peoples converted a layup, and Nick Marabito hit both from the line. Walters hit a three late in the half, and Cooper Frith earned a three-shot trip to the line, hitting all to close out the half, and brining the score to 42-32.
Forbord and Rifky Sedhom helped keep the lead within single digits, and Flores-Peoples converted a four-point play to bring the score to 51-44. Westminster then put together a 12-0 run to grow the lead back to 20 points. Forbord ended the run, followed by a Soden layup, but even after another Soden three, WU kept their strong lead. Flores Peoples added another three and Sedhom scored on a late layup, but the Griffins prevailed, 92-70.
