GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University Softball team and Colorado School of Mines split a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Golden, with RU taking the early game, 11-2, and CSM taking the late match, 3-4. The Rangers move to 7-21 (6-16 RMAC), and the Orediggers now sit at 12-20 (8-14 RMAC).
GAME ONE
The Rangers started the game on fire, with the top of the first seeing an Olivia Wick lead-off single, a Jane Quinn single, Kiauna Smith walk, Bella Bordine RBI single, and Isabella Porter RBI single all before the first out. Angelina Romero-Barros, Natasha Ellison, and Wick all added RBI singles to build a 6-0 lead in the opening frame. Mines hit an inside-the-park home run to lead off their half of the inning, but that would be their only run.
With two outs in the third inning, Quinn tripled to clear the bases and bat in Wick, Ellison, and Kristin Ingram. Quinn then stole home on a double steal. CSM added another solo homer in the third, but was again held to a single score. Wick doubled in the top of the fifth, and Quinn traded places with her, pushing the score to 11-2. Three grounders by the Orediggers in the bottom of the inning ended the game in five.

GAME TWO
Wick and Smith were both walked in the top of the first inning of the second game, but neither found home. The Orediggers also left two on in the bottom, and RU responded in the third as Ingram was walked, advanced to third on a walk and Ellison sacrifice bunt, and scored on Wick's single. Ingram posted a double in the third that scored Jessica Isbell and Porter to extend the lead to 3-1, but a triple and sac fly in the bottom got CSM on the board.
Mines added another run in the fourth scoring on a single and RBI double. Ingram singled the fifth frame, and the Orediggers got a runner to third base, but neither squad scored. The same happened in the sixth with a Quinn single. Isbell reached in the seventh, and stole second, but yet another Ranger was stranded. Mines claimed the win in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single to tie and single-error to win, 4-3.
