DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss this afternoon as they dropped a nonconference matchup with Rollins College at Regis Turf Field.
The Rangers, who are coming off their season opener win on Thursday against East Central University, battled to a scoreless half to begin today's game before a pair of second-half goals would ultimately lead to the loss.
Regis now sits at 1-1 on the young season while Rollins improves to 2-0 after defeating No. 12 Colorado School of Mines 2-1 this past Thursday as well.
Through the first half of play in today's game there were just three shots managed by both teams with Rollins having the slight shots on goal advantage at 2-1.
Despite the defensive first half, the Tars were able to finally overcome the Rangers' defense in the 57th minute when they broke away for a one-timer just inside the penalty area.
Following shortly after, the Tars then scored again in the 59th minute on another cross pass to which the Tars knocked in from less than 15 feet past a diving Maggie Payne.
The Rangers challenged with four shots and three on goal in the final 31 minutes to retaliate but were unable to meet the back of the net.
Rollins finished with a 9-8 shot advantage to end the game as both teams were even in saves and corner kicks with four.
On offense, Fernanda Rodriguez led the Rangers with three shots while five others attempted one apiece.
Each school was assessed one yellow card as well.

The Rangers will be action next when they host a pair of fellow Christian universities this coming week on Thursday Sept. 3rd against No. 5 Dallas Baptist University at 7 PM and Sunday Sept. 6th against St. Edward's at 11 AM.
