DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer team was taken down by No. 7 Dallas Baptist University this evening as they suffered a 2-0 loss at the Regis Turf Fields.
The Patriots, who were national quarter finalists a season ago, were able to break through the game's stalemate in the second half with them scoring twice in the matter of five minutes.
DBU sits at 2-0 on the young season while the Rangers move to 1-2.
Through 45 minutes the game was even at 0-0 with both teams playing strong defensively.
Dallas Baptist held just a 7-5 shot advantage at half with their only shot on goal being saved by Maggie Payne.
It was finally in the 63rd minute that the Patriots scored their first goal of the game when Skylar Belanger connected on an assist from Leah Hurley.
The Patriots then scored four minutes later on a Kenzi Tufts goal in the 67th minute.
The Rangers challenged with three shots in the final three minutes of the game to attempt a comeback but were unable to score.
DBU outshot Regis 15-8 in the contest while having the slight edge in shots on goal 5-4.
For the Rangers, Fernanda Rodriguez led the team with three shots while Elsa Nolen added two. Three others would have one apiece.
