DENVER, Colo – The Regis University Women's Soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win over the University of Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers improve to 4-2, while the Lopers fall to 2-2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Andie Rylance wasted no time, taking the first shot of the match :25 seconds in. Paige Davis would record the fist on-target shot of the game on her second attempt before UNK finally landed theirs at 13:23. Maggie Payne came up big with two saves in 20 seconds to keep the shut out, and Fernanda Rodriguez, fresh off a hat trick in her last outing, capitalized on assists from Paula Igual and Brielle Bickham to get RU on the board at 32:09. The defenses settled in from there, not allowing another shot for the rest of the half.
The Rangers continued to control the game into the second, taking a variety of shots before Rodriguez scored again, this time assisted by Davis. In the 71st minute, the Lopers attempted to shield the ball near the goal, but Brooke Castillo tapped it to Mya Pasion who scored, extending the lead to 3-0. Igual's shot would hit the crossbar, and the Rangers benefited from a UNK miscue, as Kearney put in a own goal, brining the final to 4-0.
GAME NOTES
