DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Volleyball team hosted University of Colorado Colorado Springs for the final match of their RMAC Regional Pod match on Friday night, but fell to the Mountain Lions, 0-3 (21-25, 18-25, 13-25). Regis moves to 1-14 (0-4 RMAC) on the year, while UCCS climbs to 8-5 (3-1 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind early the Rangers battled back, led by Callie Parker and Kendal Allaire. Sabrina Landman ended a short UCCS run, and Kailyn Polzin brought the game back within one. Maddie Lynett aced a late serve, while Landman landed a late kill, but Springs held on for the 25-21 win.
RU took an early lead in the second behind a run that saw a Polzin kill and Landman ace. However, UCCS responded with a run of their own to tie the game. Polzin ended the streak, , while Allaire started a new one that included a Cady Knight ace and Morgan Munro kill. But, with Regis leading15-13, UCCS rattled off eight straight. Alayna Pruitt got RU back on the board but the Mountain Lions took the second, 25-18.
Landman and Jacie Kaniho produced kills in the third, but Springs went up, 16-5. Munro and Landman assisted a block, and Parker supplied a kill, but UCCS dominated the third, 25-13.
GAME NOTES
