Darron Cox joins the Rangers in his first season of college coaching under Head Coach Drew LaComb.
Prior to his time at Regis, Cox started and operated Thunder Academy from 2008-2021 located in Broomfield, Colorado. During his time there, he sent over 100 players to college baseball.
In 2018 Cox was inducted into the Mustang High School Hall of Fame in its’ inaugural class.
In 2007 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the University of Oklahoma.
From 2003-2006 Cox began his coaching career in the Colorado Rockies organization where he served as the hitting coach for the Tulsa Drillers for three years and one year as the manager of the Casper Rockies.
Cox was drafted in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft in 1989 out of the University of Oklahoma. He spent the next 14 years in professional baseball and played with the following organizations:

       o 1992: Named to the Southern League All-Star team (AA)
      o 1990: Name to the South Atlantic League All-Star team (A)
In 1987 Cox signed with the University of Oklahoma to play his collegiate baseball. Here, he was named the Big 8 Player of the Year (1989), and a Freshman All-American (1987).
In high school, Cox was a 14-time letter winner as a four-sport athlete at Mustang High School in football, baseball, basketball and track.
Cox is a native of Mustang, Oklahoma and currently resides here in Colorado where he is married to his wife Karen and has four children; Caleb, Joshua, Jonah and Emma.
