McKenzie Rafferty begins her second season as an assistant coach for the women's lacrosse program.
Rafferty helped the Rangers to their best season in program history owning an overall record of 17-3 while consistently being ranked in the IWLCA top 20 throughout the season and closing out 2017 at No. 9. RU defeated No. 2 Lindenwood, for the first time in program history, to capture their second RMAC Tournament title. Regis went on to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament, also a first for the program.
A former four-time letter winner at the University of Delaware, Rafferty helped guide the Blue Hens to an overall record of 42-26 and a top 20 ranking during her career.
Rafferty is a native of Chester Springs, PA., and was a standout student-athlete at the University of Delaware helping them to multiple CAA playoff appearances and elevating the program into the national rankings. As a player, Rafferty earned All-Colonial Conference Academic Team honors four consecutive years, was a National College Athlete Honor Society member, nominated for CoSIDA All-American and was also named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2016.
A US Lacrosse, Brine, and Under Armour All-American player from Downingtown East High School in Downingtown, PA., Rafferty has been active in the Mid-Atlantic region over the last five years as a club coach, with nationally regarded PA Express and Under Armour. In addition, she has helped grow the game she loves internationally and has obtained experience by both playing and coaching abroad.
Rafferty is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Denver in Sport and Performance Psychology. In May of 2016, she graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with a second licensure in Special Education, as well as a minor in Coaching Science.
